stills:: winter at the beach

It is beginning to feel like winter here. Cold & wet. We have just had a weekend away by the beach.
We went with 4 other families who we've known forever ( well, for a long time anyway).
Apart from the fact that it rained most of the time, David was sick for the whole time & I dropped my 1 week old iPhone 5 & cracked the screen- we managed a few positives.
Catching up with old friends, frequent visits from my niece & her red umbrella & a win for the Wallabies :)
And we ate quite a bit of chocolate.

styling

Styling is not really my thing but I've been watching #7vignettes on instagram over the last few months.
The idea is to post a photo for the first 7 days of each month  representing each of the prompts given.

So...this month I thought that I would challenge myself & give it a go.
.
These were the June prompts & this was my effort.

I thought I'd keep it simple & only include a few items & take photos in the same space each day.

I think I started off better than I finished but overall I did an ok job.
'Candlelit' & 'his' are a bit blurred because it was a bit dark, I posted them anyway.
 That's why I'm not a real stylist.

The July 7 vignettes will be starting up soon and I'm not sure whether I'll do it again.
It was fun, but I think I'll just enjoy looking at other peoples beautiful styling :)

I am linking in with Brenda for the third Thursday challenge.

redfern

Yesterday, on a beautiful sunshiny winter's day I met up with Justine at Redfern.
We had no real plans so we ended up wandering through parts of Redfern, Erskinville & Newtown.

We had coffee & wandered & chatted & took photos. We had lunch too.
It was a really nice day. It's such a beautiful area with interesting old buildings & lots of colour.
And there was such beautiful light everywhere we went.

Here are some of the photos that I took,
& you can see some that she took over here.

Such a lovely time hanging out with Justine, who I have met via our blogs.
We've met up it before, here, & I'm certain we'll do it again.

silhouettes

On Sunday afternoon we wandered to the beach, Charlie & 2 of his friends threw the frisbee around.
I must have taken 150 photos trying to catch the perfect light & the perfect silhouette.
The boys were very compliant.
I occasionally asked them to stand closer together or move a little bit in one direction or the other.

I think these were my favourite...

ten on ten

I'm joining in with ten on ten again...
ten photos, over ten hours (or so) on the tenth day of each month.

Looking for the beauty in the everyday.

This tenth was a fabulous one. A long weekend  & a lovely holiday by the beach with some friends.
Amazing weather for winter (the boys went swimming!) & lots of lovely moments to capture.

This is what my day looked like....

looking up

A train trip to the city on a beautiful day last week.
Looking up at the patterns of the clouds (so pretty!)
City buildings, sculptures & trees in the beautiful sunshine.
