{in the picture} November selfies

This month the theme for {in the picture} is gratitude.
I have so much to be grateful for!
I was grateful to have time together with my family & church friends a few weekends ago.

I always love the beach.

..and some coffee & a book on the deck on Sunday morning.

Faith, hope & love- things to be thankful for!

scavenger hunt

I do enjoy joining in on scavenger hunt but lately seem to only manage it once a month
- so this is my November scavenger hunt!

Thankful...
I'm participating in a daily gratitude project on instagram for the month of November so I thought that I'd collage 9 of my grateful photos for this prompt.

In the kitchen...
stove top controls.

Couple...
Ottoman royalty- I presume- from a chess set that my boys bought in Istanbul in 2009.

Bubbles...
tiny bubbles in my mineral water.

Trees...
silhouettes at sunset

agapanthus

We were just doing some jobs around the place, like cleaning windows & watering the pot plants when I noticed the afternoon sun on these newly opened blooms.
So, I thought I should take a photo.

Chiaroscuro

In Kat Sloma's latest Exploring with the camera she talks about dark & light in photos- which apparently is called chiaroscuro in Italian.

This is what she wrote....
"Chiaroscuro is an Italian word, combining the words for light (chiaro) and dark (scuro), and it refers to an artistic technique of using light and dark to render an object as three dimensional in two dimensional art. It is commonly used to refer to very strong light and dark contrasts in a piece of art, such as seen in the works of Caravaggio and Rembrandt."

So, I had a search through my photos and found these photos that fit with this idea.
I took them earlier in the year at an art exhibition on Cockatoo Island.

I always enjoy exploring with the camera!

third thursday challenge

I'm linking in with Brenda for the third Thursday challenge.
The idea is to try something new.
I don't normally do much editing so I thought I'd try layering 2 photos together.
And also add and effect.

I quite liked this effect too... but perhaps the seagull is a little dark?

These are the original photos below.
This....
....made from these.

Anyway, I had a bit of fun fiddling with my photos!

ten on ten

Ten photos over ten hours on the tenth day of the month.
We've just been on a weekend away and Saturday the 10th was unseasonably chilly.
Still managed a walk along the beach but it was quite grey & windy.

Beautiful, nevertheless to get away with our family & church.
This is what the day looked like for me....

blue skies

I enjoyed lunch & an amazing view at the Bondi Icebergs after a wander along the coastline
looking at the sculptures by the sea a few weeks ago...
....a perfect day with beautiful blue skies.

capturing our blessings:: 1

I love the idea of being grateful & seeking beauty in the ordinary.
I've been inspired by Rebekah at a little bit of sunshine to gather my sisters in law and share in a month of gratitude.
(although we are thinking weekly rather than daily!)

reflections

(more from sculptures by the sea)

I was absolutely mesmerised by this sculpture, called kaleidoscope cube by Alex Richie.
From every angle the reflections change.
I loved watching people moving through it & around it.
