scavenger hunt

 beneath your feet...
capturing movement...
Poppy hates having her worm treatment, a squirt of liquid on the back of her neck once a month.
I captured her going crazy in our backyard, rolling in the dirt after her most recent treatment.
texture...
 facing your fears...
I'm normally quite a fan of spiders but this one (enormous!!) gave me a fright the other morning as I was weaving in & out of our rose bushes to collect some flowers.
currently...
loving the Sydney weather.

{in the picture} may selfies

Joining in with Christy with my May self portraits.
This month's theme for {in the picture} is big world, tiny you.
So I found some spots near where I live and each week I became smaller and smaller in the big picture.

snap it {neighbourhood}

Lots of Autumn leaves in my neighbourhood at the moment.

Snapped one morning when I was taking the pooch for a walk.

the brickpit ring walk

Last weekend I visited the brickpit ring walk.
18.5 metres high & 550 metres around, it was built at Homebush when they were preparing for the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
It was built to protect the habitat of the endangered green & golden bell frog.
More info here.

As we wandered around I enjoyed the late afternoon shadows...

similar but different

When taking photos at home or on holidays it seems that there are a lot of similarities in the types of photographs that we take.
Even though the location is different the subject can be the same.
As I looked through my archives I can see that fences quite frequently attract my attention (and here are only a few!)
Here are a number of fences that have been taken while on holidays, or closer to home as I walk around the neighbourhood.
Fences can be made from different materials, be used for different purposes...for decoration or to keep things in or out. Some are strong and some are broken.
Similar but different.

Not only can the subject of the photo be the same in different locations but the actual feeling of the photo can be similar.
I think that these photos below have a feeling of calm, peacefulness & relaxation.
All in different locations.

These are the things that we've been looking at in Kat Sloma's a sense of place.

snap it {inside}

A mother's day card.
Blank on the front, but it's what's {inside} that counts....

archery

Charlie & his friend Jordan had a go with some bows & arrows on the weekend.
Jordan's mum, Jenny and I decided to have a turn as well.

I think we all did very well!
As the morning moved along we improved.
We got  more arrows in the targets than over the top or around the side.
Jenny & I even managed to pop a balloon
(they attached a balloon to the target in the last 20 minutes for some added excitement)
The boys concentrated hard & managed to regularly hit yellow.
We were glad that the targets weren't too far away.
It was a fun morning.
